Mamata Banerjee just accepts one condition, Congress will join hands with TMC against BJP.

After the crushing defeat in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee is now seeking help from Congress and Left parties in the war against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). After the defeat, she said that she would strengthen the opposition ‘India’ alliance at the national level, but now only Congress and Left parties seem to be avoiding her. Congress leaders are reminding them how they had worked against the Congress in 2024 and before that they had destroyed the Congress in West Bengal during their one and a half decade rule. Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee’s staunch opponent and veteran Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary has put a special condition regarding the alliance with Mamata Banerjee.

Adhir Ranjan Choudhary, while reacting to Mamata Banerjee’s recent statements, targeted her and put a special condition before her for alliance with Congress. Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said that first Mamata Banerjee should accept his conditions and then apply for alliance with Congress.

What is the condition?

Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, while placing a condition before Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress (TMC), said, ‘Now Mamata Banerjee is trying to call everyone because she no longer has the strength to do anything on her own. He still did not take the name of Congress. If you want to survive then consider Rahul Gandhi as the leader of India alliance and then apply for alliance. After that it will be thought about.

What did the left say?

Mamata Banerjee’s appeal for unity has also been rejected by the Left parties. Left leader Mohammad Salim said, ‘We will not accept any criminal, extortionist, corrupt and communal person. We will stand with the people and the poor. Apart from this, CPI State Secretary, Swapan Banerjee said, ‘The question of going with Mamata does not arise, because democracy was in danger during her rule.’

Why is alliance difficult?

Mamata Banerjee became the Chief Minister for the first time in 2011 through an alliance with the Congress, but by 2016, she broke many leaders of the Congress party and included them in her party and the Left and Congress came together. After this, Congress is continuously marginalized in West Bengal. Before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Mamata Banerjee definitely joined the opposition alliance but she did not consider Rahul Gandhi as a leader. He did not give seats to Congress Party and Left parties in the state. The result was that Congress-Left fielded candidates against Mamata Banerjee.

Mamata Banerjee’s party is part of the opposition alliance but only within the walls of Parliament. Leaders of Mamata Banerjee’s party were projecting him as the next PM. In such a situation, now everyone’s eyes are on how Congress gives him a place in the alliance. Many leaders of the Congress Party are staunch opponents of Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal. If both the parties come together then such leaders can disperse and go to the BJP’s side.
