Is Didi’s height decreasing? Only 20 MLAs reached the Kalighat meeting, there may be a big rebellion in Trinamool
TMC MLAs Meeting Cancelled: There is turmoil in the politics of West Bengal since the results of the assembly elections. After losing power, All India Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee’s troubles are showing no signs of abating. Everything is not going well within the party and an incident that took place on Sunday has completely exposed this matter.
The meeting was called after the attacks
In fact, after the attacks on TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and senior MP Kalyan Banerjee, Mamata Banerjee had hurriedly called a very important meeting of party MLAs at her Kalighat residence in Kolkata. This meeting was to start at 4 pm on Sunday, but when it was time for the meeting, Mamata Banerjee herself and the top leaders of the party were stunned to see the scene there.
Only 20 MLAs were present
Out of total eighty TMC MLAs, only twenty MLAs reached Didi’s house, after which speculation has intensified in Bengal politics whether Trinamool Congress is on the verge of disintegration.
Small crowd gathered at Kalighat raised many serious questions
On the invitation of Mamata Banerjee, the process of MLAs coming to her Kalighat house on Sunday started, but it stopped very quickly. Only some very close and senior faces like MLA Kunal Ghosh, Shobhandev Chatterjee, Madan Mitra, Nayana Banerjee, Ashok Kumar Deb and Biman Banerjee arrived one by one to attend the meeting.
Discussion intensifies in political circles
The sequence of arrival of leaders stopped completely at 20. When the remaining 60 MLAs did not reach the meeting even after waiting for a long time, there was silence inside and outside Kalighat. Within no time the news spread in the media that the majority of MLAs were missing from Mamata Banerjee’s meeting. After this, discussions started in full swing in the political circles whether these 60 MLAs are no longer happy with the leadership of Mamata Banerjee and are in touch with the ruling party.
TMC engaged in damage control
As soon as questions started being raised on the absence of MLAs, there was a stir within the party. Seeing the situation worsening, Trinamool MLA from Beleghata Kunal Ghosh immediately came out of Mamata Banerjee’s house and gave clarification in front of the media. Kunal Ghosh clearly denied any kind of division or factionalism in the party and tried his best to show unity. Talking to reporters, he said that Trinamool’s All India General Secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee was attacked last day and after that today MP Kalyan Banerjee has also been attacked. In protest against these attacks, all the MLAs of Trinamool Congress are organizing large-scale protests and programs in their respective assembly constituencies.
Why did the MLAs request to postpone the meeting?
Kunal Ghosh further said that the police have detained many active party workers during the protests. In such a situation, all the MLAs are busy in freeing the workers from police custody in their respective areas and leading the movement at the grassroots level. For this reason, many MLAs had called and requested the party leadership to postpone today’s important meeting.
Considering the demands of the MLAs and the seriousness of the situation, today’s official meeting has been postponed. The twenty MLAs who had reached Kalighat, sat together and had only an internal discussion.
TMC will take to the streets in the coming days
Amid reports of absence of party MLAs, Kunal Ghosh also revealed the upcoming strategy. He said that Trinamool Congress is not going to suppress this issue and big movements will be organized in the coming days. He announced that on June 1, Trinamool Congress workers will take out a massive protest march in every ward and every block of the state. Immediately after this, on June 2, Mamata Banerjee herself will sit on a one-day dharna at Rani Rashmoni Road in Kolkata.
What is the reason behind the strike?
This dharna will not only be organized in protest against the attacks on Abhishek Banerjee and Kalyan Banerjee, but also against various anti-people issues including the government’s decision to remove hawkers from Rani Rashmoni Road. Through this protest, Mamata Banerjee will try to show her political strength again.
BJP taunted, said – MLAs have lost confidence in Mamata
On the other hand, the opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party has launched a scathing attack on this internal discord of Trinamool Congress and the cancellation of the meeting. BJP MLA from Maniktala Tapas Roy took a jibe at Mamata Banerjee and said that it is not a normal thing that sixty out of eighty MLAs do not come even after being called by the Supreme Commander himself. Tapas Roy claimed that Trinamool Congress MLAs have now expressed complete no-confidence in their own leader Mamata Banerjee.
The party started disintegrating as soon as it went to power
After losing power, the party is disintegrating and the MLAs no longer see their future secure with Mamata Banerjee. After this statement of BJP, the political battle of Bengal has now become more interesting. At present, no big leader has said anything openly on this, but the politics behind the scenes is very hot.
