Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, a newly elected NCPI MP who rebelled against the Trinamool Congress, made a significant statement in Delhi on Tuesday regarding former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Ghosh, who was in Delhi to attend the monsoon session, attacked Mamata Banerjee for switching parties.
Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, who herself left the Trinamool Congress and joined the NCPI, said that Mamata Banerjee herself began her political career in the Congress party, so she learned how to switch parties from her.
Mamata became a minister in both the NDA and the UPA.
Kakoli said, “When she started her career, Mamata Banerjee was in the Indian National Congress. In 1998, she joined the Trinamool Congress. Then, in 2004, she joined the NDA and became a minister. After that, she returned to the Congress and became a minister in the UPA. So, if our leaders continue to do this, what can we learn from them?”
When and how did Kakoli Ghosh rebel?
Kakoli Ghosh was the first leader to rebel within the TMC. She led the rebel MPs. On May 25th of this year, she was the first to resign as the TMC’s Barasat district president. At that time, she questioned the party’s functioning and the role of its election strategy group, I-PAC.
The next day, on May 27, she resigned from all TMC organizational posts. Although she stated at the time that she was not leaving the TMC and would remain a Lok Sabha MP, she later left the TMC and joined the NCPI.
