Mamta Banerjee refused to resign, said- I will not go to Raj Bhavan, looting of votes on 100 seats in Bengal
digital desk- Following the results of the West Bengal Assembly elections, a political and constitutional deadlock has arisen in the state. Acting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has completely rejected the election results and made it clear that she will not go to Lok Bhavan (Raj Bhavan) and tender her resignation. Mamta Banerjee adopted a very aggressive attitude during the press conference and said that the question of her resignation does not arise because this defeat is not a conspiracy of the people but of the machinery. He claimed that TMC has not lost the elections, but it has been defeated in a planned manner. Terming it a murder of democracy, Mamata said that morally she has won and she will now continue her fight against this injustice like a ‘free bird’.
Election Commission accused of being a ‘villain’ and questions on EVM
Mamata Banerjee called the Election Commission the biggest “villain” of this entire election incident. He made a direct attack on the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and said that the Commission has done the work of robbing the constitutional rights. Mamata raised serious questions on the functioning of EVMs and asked how 90-95% charge could remain in the machines even after the voting was over, whereas technically it should have been much less. He alleged that just two days before the elections, raids were started on his close ones and by transferring IAS and IPS officers loyal to TMC, BJP played a dirty game of ‘betting’ directly with the Election Commission.
Voter list rigging and ‘torture’ by central forces
The Chief Minister alleged that to win the elections, the electoral roll (SIR) was tampered with and names of about 90 lakh voters were deleted. He said that when they went to court, only 32 lakh names could be added back, which shows the magnitude of this conspiracy. Mamata became emotional and said that during the voting, she and her workers were harassed by the central forces. He alleged that he was pushed out of the booth and his polling agents were brutally beaten. Accusing the Prime Minister and the Home Minister of direct interference, Mamata said that she had never seen such a ‘lousy and dirty’ election in her life.
Resolve to ‘bounce back’ together with ‘Indie Coalition’
Despite changing equations of power, Mamata Banerjee has adopted a tough stance for the future. He said that all the colleagues of ‘Indi Alliance’ including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal and Uddhav Thackeray have called him and given their full support. He announced that Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav is coming to Kolkata to meet him tomorrow. Mamta said that now she does not have the chair of the Chief Minister, so like a common man, she will give a message to the whole world about how democracy has been strangled in India. She pledged that she will now tour across the country to further strengthen the opposition alliance and ‘bounce back’ strongly against this dictatorship of the BJP.
