Mamta’s big allegation on Abhishek Banerjee attack, said- hospitals were threatened
Tezzbuzz Desk- Once again the phase of allegations and counter-allegations has intensified in the politics of West Bengal. After the alleged attack on Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee, party chief Mamata Banerjee has made serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He claimed that after the attack, pressure was put on hospitals and doctors to influence Abhishek’s treatment.
Mamata Banerjee said that after the attack, attempts were made to prevent Abhishek from being admitted to the hospital and to influence the decisions related to his treatment. He raised questions that if there was no need for hospitalization, then why was he first kept in the Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU) and why was he advised to undergo several medical tests.
He said Abhishek was kept under observation for about two hours and doctors had recommended X-ray and other scans. In such a situation, saying that there was no need to recruit him raises many questions.
The TMC chief alleged that influential people in the ruling party were pressurizing hospitals and senior officials so that Abhishek was not admitted. Mamta claimed that an official of the hospital administration told her that threatening phone calls were coming from the police.
He said that decisions regarding treatment of any injured patient should be left entirely to doctors and medical experts. Political or administrative interference is a worrying sign for the health system.
According to Mamata Banerjee, during medical examination, injury marks were found on Abhishek Banerjee’s face, neck, back and chest. Doctors advised a detailed investigation considering possible fractures, internal bleeding or other complications.
He told that his ribs and chest also suffered injuries during stone pelting and pushing. Also, considering his pre-existing eye problem, doctors are taking special precautions.
TMC has decided that Abhishek’s further treatment will be done under the supervision of trusted doctors and family physicians of the party. Mamata also said that if she had not worn a helmet during the attack, the injuries could have been more serious.
The incident occurred when Abhishek Banerjee had come to meet party workers and their families in Sonarpur area. TMC claims that many workers had to face violence after the recent elections and Abhishek had gone to meet them.
Meanwhile, the mob allegedly surrounded his convoy and threw stones and eggs. TMC alleges that the attackers pushed them and even tore their clothes. In videos that surfaced on social media, security personnel can be seen struggling to save him from the crowd.
After the incident, Abhishek Banerjee accused BJP workers of the attack and called it a conspiracy to murder him. He said that to get justice in this case, he will approach the Supreme Court and demand legal action against the culprits.
However, BJP has completely rejected these allegations. The party says that TMC is making baseless allegations to take political advantage and has no connection with the incident.
This incident has created a new controversy in the politics of West Bengal. On one hand TMC is calling it a case of political violence, while BJP is vehemently denying the allegations. In such a situation, this issue may become more heated in the politics of the state in the coming days.
