Surya’s ‘Karuppu’ continues to dominate the box office, leaving Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Sarkar’ behind.
Tezzbuzz Desk – South cinema films continue to perform well at the box office. These days, actor Surya’s film ‘Karuppu’ and Mohanlal’s ‘Drishyam 3’ have become the center of attraction among the audience. While ‘Drishyam 3’ has joined the Rs 200 crore club, ‘Karuppu’ is now fast moving towards the Rs 300 crore mark.
Even after two weeks of release, the pace of earnings of ‘Karuppu’ has not slowed down. The film collected over Rs 3 crore at the Indian box office on its 15th day. With this, the total gross collection of the film in India has crossed Rs 171 crore. The film is getting a great response in foreign countries too and has earned more than Rs 75 crore from the overseas market.
The total worldwide earning of the film has reached approximately Rs 274 crore. Trade experts believe that if this pace continues, the film may soon cross the Rs 300 crore mark.
Apart from Tamil Nadu, ‘Karuppu’ is also getting good response in Karnataka, Kerala and other parts of the country. The film’s strong story, action sequences and Suriya’s powerful performance have received appreciation from both audiences and critics. The presence of actress Trisha Krishnan has also played an important role in increasing the popularity of the film.
With this brilliant performance, ‘Karuppu’ has left behind Thalapathy Vijay’s superhit film ‘Sarkar’. ‘Sarkar’, released in 2018, did a worldwide business of around Rs 249 crore. Now Surya’s film has crossed this figure and made a new record in its name.
The film had a great opening in the first weekend itself and thereafter maintained its strong hold at the box office with steady earnings. This is the reason why ‘Karuppu’ seems to be among the most successful Tamil films of this year.
