Manchester City have finalized the signing of Moroccan international midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi from French club Lille on a five-year contract, pending international clearance, the Premier League club announced on Wednesday.
The 18-year-old midfielder has committed to Manchester City until 2031. Bouaddi joins the club as one of the highly rated young prospects in world football, having made 96 appearances for Lille and earned eight international caps.
Bouaddi made his senior debut for Lille in the UEFA Conference League three days after turning 16. He became a regular in Lille’s first team over the following two seasons.
Initially representing France at youth and Under-21 levels, Bouaddi later switched allegiance to Morocco, the country of his parents’ origin. He also represented Morocco at this summer’s World Cup.
Known for his composure and creativity in midfield, Bouaddi expressed his excitement about joining Manchester City. He said: “This is a very special day for me and my family. Manchester City are, for me, the best Club in the world. It’s a dream to be here and be able to call myself a City player. I have spent most of my life working hard to become the best player I can be and reach the top of the game.”
He added: “I’ve watched City for many years, and I love their style of play. City always try to play quality football. And they have shown they are winners – this Club feels like it’s built to win. The squad is world-class, and Enzo is a top manager. And I’m really looking forward to playing at the Etihad Stadium, in front of all the fans.”
Bouaddi also acknowledged his potential for further growth: “I have plenty of improving to do. I am only 18. I am happy with the progress I have made so far, but I also know I can improve so much. This is undoubtedly the best place for me to do that. This Club demands trophies and I will give everything to make sure we are challenging for every title.”
Throughout his tenure at Lille, Bouaddi’s appearances have increased steadily, with 18 games in the 2023/24 season, 36 in 2024/25 and 42 in 2025/26. At international level, he has made eight appearances for Morocco during the 2025/26 season.
