Mann government’s big gift on Labor Day, 15 percent increase in minimum wage

On the occasion of Labor Day, Bhagwant Singh Mann has made a big announcement for the working class. The Punjab government has approved a 15 percent increase in minimum wages, which will directly benefit all registered workers in the government and private sector. This decision was passed unanimously in the special session of the Assembly.

Basic wages increased after 13 years

The Chief Minister said that the base rate of minimum wage was last revised in the year 2012. After this, dearness allowance kept increasing, but there was no change in the basic salary. In such a situation, this increase after 13 years is being considered as a relief news for the workers.

He said that this decision is a recognition of the contribution of the workers and is an important step towards strengthening their economic condition.

All workers will get benefits

The benefit of this increase will be available to all the registered laborers working in government and private sector. The government believes that this will improve the income of workers and their standard of living will improve. The Chief Minister also said that workers are the backbone of the society and without their welfare development is not possible.

Government’s special emphasis on education

During the programme, the Chief Minister also stressed the importance of education. He said that only quality education can change the future of the children of labourers. The government is continuously working in this direction and positive results of improvements in government schools are emerging.

He told that recently many students have achieved success in competitive examinations, out of which a large number are children coming from labor families.

Targeted at Congress

The Chief Minister reacted sharply to the walkout by the opposition, especially the Indian National Congress, during the special session. He called it an anti-labor move and said that the opposition did not have any concrete issue, hence they boycotted the session.

‘Shukrana Yatra’ also announced

The Chief Minister also announced to take out ‘Shukrana Yatra’ on the passing of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act-2026. This yatra will start from 6th May and continue till 9th ​​May, in which prayers will be offered at various holy places.

This decision of the Punjab Government is an important step towards bringing positive changes in the lives of the workers. Measures like increase in wages, emphasis on education and social security show that the government is committed to the welfare of workers.
