Dolphin trapped in canal and 13 hours of dreadful operation… PM Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ I narrated a heart touching story!
Mann Ki Baat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the public on Sunday through Mann Ki Baat. PM Modi, while addressing the countrymen in the 134th episode of his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’, discussed many contemporary topics. During this, he prominently raised many issues like achievements of Indian players, importance of traditional beverages in summer season, awareness towards environmental protection and biodiversity.
In the program, he also made special mention of the successful rescue operation of Ganga dolphin in Uttar Pradesh and described it as an inspiring example of nature conservation. PM Modi said that in recent times a video was much discussed in which some people were seen trying to save a Ganga dolphin with patience and caution.
13 hour rescue operation
He told that this entire operation took about 13 hours and the dolphin was rescued safely. He said that this incident is not just a story of saving an organism but reflects our collective responsibility towards the conservation of nature and biodiversity. He said that India’s first Ganga Dolphin Rescue Ambulance played a big role in this successful operation.

Actually, a Ganga dolphin got stuck in the canal in Uttar Pradesh, after which this special ambulance developed under the ‘Namami Gange’ campaign was sent to the spot. The rescue team carefully took the dolphin out and examined it. Also, after treatment, he was safely released into the Rapti river.

Features of ambulance
The Prime Minister also enumerated the merits of this ambulance in Mann Ki Baat. He said that it has been designed like a mobile hospital. It also has special arrangements to keep the dolphins safe, oxygen facilities, special stretchers and modern rescue equipment. If any dolphin gets injured, gets cut off from the river or gets stuck in a canal, its life can be saved with the help of this ambulance.
PM Modi said that when we save the Ganga dolphin, we do not save just one species, but save the biodiversity and the entire eco-system of the Ganga river. This is an effort to preserve the precious heritage of nature for our future generations.
At the end of his address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared the childhood memories of the countrymen. He mentioned rivers, ponds and wells. He said that these memories related to water remain in the minds of people throughout their life and inspire us to strengthen our relationship with nature. PM Modi also called on citizens to be sensitive towards water sources and environmental protection.
