Its journey is considered relatively easier as compared to Kailash Mansarovar. Kinnar Kailash: Famous for color changing Shivalinga
Kinnar Kailash, located in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, is famous for its difficult trekking and huge natural Shivalinga. Here a rock about 79 feet high is worshiped as Shivalinga. According to local beliefs, the color of this Shivalinga is seen changing from sunrise to sunset. Scientists consider it to be the reflection of sun rays and the effect of weather, but devotees consider it to be a miracle of Lord Shiva. Every year a large number of devotees participate in the Kinnar Kailash Yatra organized here.
Manimahesh Kailash: Where one can see the shine like a gem
The height of Manimahesh Kailash, located in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, is approximately 5,653 meters. Manimahesh lake situated below it is considered very sacred for the devotees. It is believed that when the first ray of the sun falls on the top of the mountain when the weather is clear, a bright glow like a divine gem is seen there. For this reason it was named Manimahesh. There is a religious belief that Lord Shiva had performed penance here. Manimahesh Yatra, which starts after Janmashtami, is counted among the major religious pilgrimages of North India.
Shrikhand Mahadev Kailash: Confluence of difficult journey and deep faith
Shrikhand Mahadev Peak, located between Kullu and Shimla region of Himachal Pradesh, is at an altitude of about 5,227 meters. The huge natural Shivalinga here is the main center of faith of the devotees. Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra is considered one of the most difficult religious journeys in the country. Steep climbs, high mountains and changing weather make this journey challenging. Despite the difficulties, thousands of devotees reach here every year to have darshan of Lord Shiva.
