Who is Abhijit Deepke?

Abhijit Bhagwanrao Deepke is a native of Walaj area of ​​Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district. He spent his childhood in a middle class Marathi family. From childhood he was interested in social and political affairs. Abhijit, who was fond of elocution, writing and reading during his school days, later decided to pursue a career in media and communication.

He came to Pune for higher education. Here he studied journalism and digital communication. During his studies in Pune, he specialized in social media, political communication and public opinion formation. He completed his studies in broadcast journalism and studied the changing trends in digital media in depth.

Presently, Abhijeet Deepke is pursuing his post-graduate studies in Public Relations and Political Communication at Boston University in America. He also works as a political communication strategist specializing in digital campaigns, public communication and social media narratives.

How did ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ start?

According to Abhijit Deepke, some of the statements used about the youth who raised their voice against the system caused them great resentment. He made a post on social media platform X amid the debates that started on freedom of expression, democracy and constitutional rights.

In that post, he asked the question — “If the youth who raise their voices against the system are considered ‘cockroaches’, what happens if all these ‘cockroaches’ come together?”

From this concept ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ was born. The movement, which initially started as an ironic digital campaign, went viral on social media within hours. Youth responded to this campaign in large numbers. Through memes, reels, satirical posts and political commentary, CJP has created a distinct identity for himself.

Why did the youth feel this movement?

The CJP took an aggressive stance on issues like rising unemployment in the country, paper-splitting in NEET and other competitive exams, inflation, corruption and political defections. The campaign was conducted in a style different from traditional political language, direct and linked to internet culture. Hence, youth on platforms like Instagram and X supported the campaign in large numbers.
