Maruti Suzuki is the largest car manufacturer in India, and just like most brands, it is constantly working on bringing new and improved products to our market. The company has a range of models spread across various segments. In a recently released Annual Integrated Report for 2025-26, Maruti’s CEO gave us a clue about the company’s future plans. Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said that the company will be focusing on SUVs and plans to introduce seven SUVs in the next five years to further strengthen its SUV portfolio. Here we have a list of seven Maruti Suzuki SUVs that we feel are coming to our market in the coming years.
The Grand Vitara is set to receive a much-needed mid-life facelift as part of its lifecycle update. The SUV is expected to arrive around the festive season and will feature a redesigned front grille, new bumpers, updated LED lighting, and a fresh set of 17-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, it is expected to come with a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, and Level 2 ADAS safety technology, including adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking. The Grand Vitara will continue to be offered with the same 1.5-litre strong-hybrid powertrain paired with an e-CVT gearbox, while the 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine will also continue to be available.
The 7-seater SUV segment is also gaining popularity among buyers, and Maruti Suzuki is also expected to expand its portfolio with a seven-seater version of the Grand Vitara.
The upcoming model is expected to feature extended front and rear overhangs, revised front and rear bumpers, a redesigned grille, updated LED headlamps, new LED DRLs, and styling changes that differentiate it from the standard Grand Vitara.
The Grand Vitara seven-seater is expected to be offered with the same 1.5-litre strong-hybrid and mild-hybrid powertrains as the standard model. An All-Wheel Drive (AWD) option is also expected to be available with the automatic variant.
The Fronx is one of the popular sub-4-metre SUVs from the Indian car manufacturer. It was the only model in the Maruti line-up with a turbo-petrol engine until recently. The updated Fronx, or the facelifted version, will hit the market soon. Apart from the facelift, Maruti is also working on a hybrid version of the Fronx for India.
Maruti is working on a series-hybrid technology that will first debut in the Fronx. The system will have an electric motor, an engine, and a battery pack like regular hybrids. However, the way this system works is different from a strong hybrid. In a series hybrid, the engine’s sole purpose is to generate power to recharge the batteries. The battery pack would send power to the electric motor, which drives the wheels. The engine never sends power to the wheels directly.
Maruti recently discontinued the Ignis, and the company has been working on a new mini SUV that would rival the likes of the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter in the segment. The SUV is known by the internal name Y43, and the exact details of this SUV are not known at the moment. The Y43 could use the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine that powers the latest Swift and Dzire. Maruti Suzuki is also expected to introduce a factory-fitted CNG version to keep running costs low.
As electric vehicles are gaining popularity, Maruti will also be entering the affordable electric SUV segment, and we feel they will enter this segment with the electric version of the Y43 mini SUV. Like any EV, the Y43 EV will also have design elements exclusive to it. The overall design may look similar to the ICE version, but Maruti might offer minor changes in terms of features and equip it with a battery pack that would offer a decent driving range.
Maruti Victoris is an extremely popular SUV in its segment, and in its annual report, the company mentioned plans to invest in four biogas plants. Maruti is currently looking at CBG as a clean and renewable substitute for CNG, which is imported.
Maruti recently showcased a Victoris CBG (Compressed Biomethane Gas) version. With Maruti considering CBG as a serious fuel option, we might see the CBG-compliant vehicle getting launched in the market soon. The Victoris SUV showcased recently looks the same and offers the same set of features as the regular version. It is based on the 1.5-litre mild-hybrid engine, and CBG has similar properties to CNG, which means Maruti may not have to make many mechanical changes to make the SUV compliant. The underbody tank and other features would remain the same.
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has been in the market for a long time now. It is a 5-seater mid-size SUV that was developed along with Toyota. In the coming five years, Maruti might launch the next generation of the SUV, which would come with more features and a more efficient engine to keep up with the rising competition in the segment.
