Massive fire in warehouse in Delhi's Raghubir Nagar, 2 killed due to e-rickshaw battery explosion

A massive fire broke out in a warehouse in West Delhi's Raghubir Nagar area in the early hours of Monday due to the battery explosion of an e-rickshaw. 2 people died in the accident. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the fire department teams reached the spot and after a lot of effort brought the fire under control. It is being told that batteries of e-rickshaw were kept in the warehouse. A battery suddenly exploded in the early hours of Monday, after which a fire broke out in the warehouse. Within no time the fire engulfed a large part of the warehouse. Two people died in the accident. As soon as information about the incident was received, police and fire department teams reached the spot. Firefighters brought the fire under control and conducted relief and rescue operations.

A Delhi Fire Service official said that at around 4:42 am on Monday, information about fire was received in warehouse number R-17A located on Masjid Gurudwara Road in Raghubir Nagar. The fire broke out on the first floor of the building. According to the official, the building in which the fire broke out has four more floors apart from the ground floor. The fire spread rapidly to the goods kept on the first floor.

Three fire engines and water bowsers arrived

According to a Delhi Fire Service official, information about fire was received at around 4:42 am on Monday morning in a warehouse located on Masjid Gurudwara Road in Raghubir Nagar. As soon as the information was received, three fire engines and a water cannon were sent to the spot. The official said the fire broke out on the first floor of the building. After about 43 minutes of effort, the fire was completely controlled at 5:25 am.

Both were burnt before reaching the hospital.

According to the fire department, two people were burnt in the accident. Even before the fire brigade arrived, both of them were taken to Guru Gobind Singh Hospital in Raghubir Nagar. Doctors declared both of them dead in the hospital. The deceased have been identified as Sufaid (17), son of Mohammad Naseeb and Mohammad Sameed (38), son of Sheikh Ridki.

Investigation into the real cause of the fire continues

According to preliminary information, household items kept in the warehouse caught fire after the battery of the e-rickshaw exploded. However, the actual cause of battery explosion and fire is not yet clear. Police have sent both the bodies for postmortem and started investigating the case. At the same time, the damage caused to property is also being assessed.
