The second match of the ODI series between India and New Zealand was also low-scoring. Once again the magic of Indian fast bowlers was seen. Indian bowlers wreaked such havoc that one New Zealand player was out of the match due to injury. A powerful bouncer from fast bowler Anshul Kamboj injured New Zealand fast bowler Blair Tickner, due to which he was out of the match. Then Matthew Fisher, who came in his place, took a wicket in his very first over.
This incident happened in the second match of the series at Sky Stadium in Wellington. The New Zealand team was batting first and once again its batting order collapsed. The situation was such that till the 39th over only 128 runs were scored and 8 wickets had fallen. In such a situation, fast bowler Blair Tickner also had to come out to bat.
The ball hit Tickner's head.
In the last match, Tickner had scored some important runs for the team by hitting 4 sixes in the last overs and this time also the same was expected from him. But he got hit on his head on his second ball itself. This incident happened in the 41st over, when Anshul Kamboj bowled a bouncer ball and Tickner failed in his attempt to play a big shot on it.
The ball hit Tickner's helmet, due to which the match had to be stopped. As per the rules, the medical team came and examined him. Tickner decided to continue batting even after this but he was out in the next 3 balls.
Entry in the team, wicket in the first over
After the end of New Zealand's innings, the team informed that Tickner was out of the match due to concussion (head injury). In such a situation, based on ICC rules, New Zealand got the opportunity of a substitute and then fast bowler Matthew Fisher, who was not included in the playing-11, entered the team.
Matthew Fisher got a chance in the squad for this series due to Lockie Ferguson's injury. Now, due to Tickner's injury, he got a chance to take the field in the middle of the match. He capitalized on this and took a wicket in his first over itself. Fisher, who came to bowl in the 13th over of the Indian innings, gave the fourth blow to India by taking the wicket of Axar Patel on the fifth ball itself.
