Maya Tata is 37 years old and is the niece of late Ratan Tata and daughter of Noel Tata. He was previously with Tata Digital, from where he has recently resigned. He has also worked at Tata Capital. She will leverage her experience in digital commerce, customer acquisition and online retail to drive Westside’s growth. According to ET reports, the decision is believed to have been taken due to the influence of his father Noel Tata. Noel Tata is the chairman of Trent and will retire in November this year.
Who is Maya Tata?
Maya Tata is the daughter of Noel Tata and Alu Mistry, the new chairman of Tata Trusts, and the niece of the late Ratan Tata. The 37-year-old Tata completed his education abroad and has since held important positions in the Tata Group. He studied at the famous British Business School, Bays Business School and also obtained a degree from the University of Warwick.
Westside’s significant role in Trent
Westside contributes approximately 40% of Tata’s company Trent’s revenue and is focusing on expanding internationally after opening its first store in the UAE. But Trent is yet to officially comment on Maya Tata’s entry into the business.

Speaking of Westside, at its recent annual general meeting, Trent announced plans to open approximately 50 new Westside stores annually. This is a significant increase from the 48 stores opened in the last three years. Westside will add 52 stores in fiscal 2026 alone.
According to reports, Maya may also play a key role in Tata Trent’s mission to develop a retail brand that enjoys international appeal. Trent operates Westside, Judeo and Star Bazaar, which have 1,286 stores spread over 17.7 million square feet in 321 cities.
