In a post on Instagram, Mayawati described the BSP’s policy as “Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya.” Mayawati stated that her party is a well-wisher of all communities and an Ambedkarite. Based on this, while talking about running the government in Uttar Pradesh for four years, Mayawati described the SP as narrow-minded, casteist, and chameleon-like, changing colors for electoral gain. Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has coined the “PDA” slogan for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Akhilesh had previously described PDA as “Backward, Dalit, and Minority,” but after addressing a Brahmin convention recently, Akhilesh Yadav explained that “PD” stands for “Pandit.” Mayawati sarcastically described this as “a living proof of the SP’s political deception.” Mayawati urged people to be wary of the SP and its narrow, caste-based politics.

In the 2022 UP Assembly elections, Mayawati’s BSP won just one seat. BSP’s Umashankar Singh was elected MLA from Ballia’s Rasra Assembly seat. Singh passed away two days ago due to cancer. This marks the first time the BSP has been without a single MLA in the UP Assembly. However, Mayawati is working tirelessly to ensure her government is re-established in UP after the next elections. Mayawati last formed a government in UP in 2007. She also joined forces with the Samajwadi Party (SP) in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, but she later broke off the alliance, alleging a lack of vote transfer.
