Mayawati will strengthen the organization from Jammu and Kashmir to Himachal, what is BSP’s new bet?
Amidst preparations for the 2027 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has now intensified the efforts to expand the organization in other states also. On Friday, in a review meeting with the officials of Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh units at the party’s central office in Lucknow, he directed to strengthen the organization and speed up the election preparations.
In the meeting, Mayawati called upon the workers to go from village to village to increase contact with the people and organize the Bahujan Samaj. He said that to complete the incomplete mission of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the society will have to unite and strengthen the BSP. Also stressed on making people aware to give equal importance to the security of their vote as to the security of self-respect, rights and dignity.
Mayawati looking for opportunities in Himachal?
During the review of Himachal Pradesh, the political situation created after the recent local body elections was discussed. Party leaders claimed that public resentment is increasing towards both Congress and BJP in the state. In such a situation, there is an opportunity for BSP to establish itself as a strong political alternative.

Demand arose to give full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir
The issue of restoration of full statehood was also discussed in the meeting of Jammu and Kashmir unit. Party leaders said that this long pending demand is now causing disappointment and dissatisfaction among the people. He believes that not getting statehood is affecting development work, administrative system and common life.
Instructions to spread Ambedkarite ideology to the masses
Mayawati said that the Bahujan community in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and other states is still struggling with problems like poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and social backwardness. He asked the workers to increase activism to politically empower the society by organizing it on the basis of Ambedkarite ideology.

BSP is looking for a strong base in both the states
BSP had won one seat in the 2007 assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, but after that the party could not open its account. Whereas in Jammu and Kashmir, the party has been contesting elections continuously since 1996, but has not been successful in winning any seat till now. In such a situation, in view of the upcoming elections, BSP is working on a strategy to re-establish the organization in both the states. Political experts believe that Mayawati is trying to strengthen the presence of BSP at the national level by emphasizing on organizational strength in Uttar Pradesh as well as other states.
