Mega action against infiltrators in Bengal! 4800 Bangladeshis deported, Chief Minister’s big announcement – ‘Demography has changed’
Kolkata: Politics has once again heated up on the issue of illegal infiltration in West Bengal. Giving a big statement on Sunday, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said that till now about 4,800 illegal immigrants have been sent back to Bangladesh from the holding centers built in the border districts of the state. Not only this, he told that 836 such people are still present in these centres, who are waiting for deportation.
Priority to border fencing and ‘chicken neck’
Addressing the preparation meeting of BJP’s special training camp, the Chief Minister put forward the priorities of his government on the security front. He said that illegal immigration is a big issue for the country. The state government has handed over land to the Border Security Force (BSF) to erect fencing on about 100 km of the 556 km stretch required to completely secure the India-Bangladesh border.
The Chief Minister made it clear that this process of giving land for the security of the country will continue. In this work, ‘Chicken Neck Corridor’ (Siliguri Corridor) of North Bengal has been placed at the top. Let us tell you that it is a narrow land stretch of only 20-22 kilometers wide and about 60 kilometers long, which connects the entire North-East states with the rest of India. From security and strategic point of view, it is considered the most sensitive lifeline of India. There is a total border between India and Bangladesh of 4,096 kilometers, out of which the longest part i.e. 2,217 kilometers falls in West Bengal alone.
Serious allegations against the previous government and the policy of directly handing over to BSF
Taking a direct aim at the previous Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, the officer said that as per the law of the Central Government, it has started deporting those infiltrators who do not come under the purview of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Now these people are being directly handed over to BSF. He alleged that this law was already in force in other states of the country, but the previous government of Bengal kept it on hold. As a result, illegal infiltrators were kept in state jails and continued to enjoy the taxpayers’ money. Referring to Hakimpur border, the Chief Minister claimed that seeing the strictness of the government, many illegal migrants are now running back on their own.
Claim to change demography of Bengal and masterplan of census
Accusing Mamata Banerjee’s party of promoting infiltration for political gains, the Chief Minister claimed that the entire demography of Bengal has changed. He said that the previous government had stopped the census in the state, but now the BJP government has started this work. Survey of houses will be conducted from 1st to 15th August and the census work will be completed by the end of February next year. On the basis of this census data, there will be a fresh delimitation of seats in the state.
‘Big scam’ in Lakshmi Bhandar Yojana and launch of Annapurna Yojana
Claiming to fulfill the election promise, the Chief Minister said that the government has transferred Rs 3,000 to the accounts of 50 lakh women of the state under ‘Annapurna Yojana’. More than 28 lakh women have got direct benefits on the very first day. Responding to the criticism on the 12-page long form of the scheme, he said that verification is necessary to ensure that public money goes into the right hands.
The official alleged that out of the 2.2 crore beneficiaries of the previous government’s ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ scheme, the names of 27 lakh people were not in the voter list. Not only this, 3 lakh men were also collecting money from this scheme in the name of women. Terming it as ‘dangerous corruption’, he said that even men were getting widow allowance during TMC rule. The situation is such that now if we investigate the TMC leaders, the smell of scam is coming from every side, and soon the Brigade Parade Ground will have to be converted into a jail.
Fish-rice for 5 rupees and big gift in health sector
Countering the old election campaign of TMC, which had said that the people of Bengal will not get to eat fish if BJP comes, the Chief Minister made a big announcement. He said that from next week the government will provide fish-rice meal to the people twice a week for just Rs 5. Many more big plans will be put forward for the public in the state budget coming on June 22.
The Chief Minister said that on the instructions of the Prime Minister, the Central Government is providing full assistance to Bengal. On Monday, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed with the Center regarding Ayushman Bharat Scheme at Vigyan Bhawan. Under this, about 1.46 crore families (about 6.5 crore people) of the state will get Ayushman card, which will provide free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh annually. The Union Health Ministry has sanctioned Rs 4,500 crore for the state under the National Health Mission, out of which Rs 527 crore has been received.
Apart from this, the Chief Minister assured that the 125-day employment guarantee scheme and PM Awas Yojana will be implemented with renewed vigor in the state. Besides, Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees will also be announced in the upcoming budget. He said that under the 7th Pay Commission constituted by his government, the outstanding DA between 2016 and 2019 has already been given to about 3 lakh employees and pensioners.
