The state government has started the process of implementing a historic and ambitious plan to make Madhya Pradesh a major manufacturing, logistics and IT hub of the country. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the state government has prepared a comprehensive roadmap of investment of more than ₹ 1 lakh crore for the development of ‘Bhopal-Indore-Jabalpur Industrial and Economic Corridor’. This project is not limited to just a simple road or highway construction, but through it, Mahakaushal (Jabalpur), Central Region (Bhopal-Raisen-Sehore) and Malwa-Nimar (Indore-Ujjain-Pithampur) will be developed as an integrated industrial ecosystem. The government has approved setting up a dedicated state-level company with an initial fund of ₹100 crore to implement this mega project, which will oversee land acquisition and infrastructure layout.

This mega corridor project is being implemented in a phased manner, which will have a direct impact on the state’s revenue and employment generation:

  • Land bank development in the first phase: In the first phase of the corridor, 3,000 to 10,000 acres of land will be developed for modern industrial use with plug-and-play infrastructure, 24-hour uninterrupted power, and adequate water supply.

  • Investment of ₹1 lakh crore by March 2028: The government estimates that this dedicated belt will attract private investments worth more than ₹1 lakh crore related to pharmaceuticals, automobiles, electronics, textiles, food processing and heavy industries.

  • Bumper employment opportunities: This economic corridor is expected to create approximately 1,00,000 direct and more than 2,00,000 indirect employment opportunities for the local youth.

The biggest feature of this corridor is that it will connect the natural and industrial features of different geographical areas of the state:

  1. Malwa Region (Indore-Ujjain-Pithampur): The country’s cleanest city Indore and automobile hub Pithampur are already the first choice for IT, data centre, semiconductor and pharma companies. This belt is being further expanded as a high-tech manufacturing and semiconductor hub.

  2. Central Zone (Bhopal-Mandideep-Raisen): The capital Bhopal and Mandideep belt will prove suitable for heavy engineering, textile, defense equipment and emerging software-tech clusters.

  3. Mahakaushal Zone (Jabalpur-Narsinghpur): The area is known for mineral wealth, mining, cement industry, defense ordinance factories and agricultural products (especially pulses and sugarcane). With the construction of the corridor, agricultural and mining products of Narsinghpur and Jabalpur will get direct connectivity to western ports and national markets.

The much awaited event to be held in Madhya Pradesh Global Investors Summit (GIS) The government has also made a major strategic change regarding this.

  • Main event to be held in Bhopal: In previous years, big investor conferences have traditionally been held in Indore, but the government has broken this myth and organized the main event of the upcoming Global Investors Summit in Indore, the administrative capital of the state. Bhopal Have decided to organize in. Its objective is to establish Bhopal as a major business and trade destination and not just an administrative city.

  • Invitation to global companies and foreign brands: The government has attracted investment proposals worth thousands of crores of rupees through the recently held Regional Industry Conclaves and Semiconductor Conferences. The upcoming summit will present a roadmap for single-window clearance and attractive incentive packages to attract Fortune 500 companies, global hotel chains, renewable energy giants and international investors.

Along with economic corridors and industrial development, the state government is also working rapidly on other dimensions of connectivity:

  • International flights: Talks are in the final stages with the Aviation Ministry and global airlines on operating direct international flights from Madhya Pradesh to major business cities of Europe, Gulf countries and South-East Asia.

  • Religious tourism boosts economy: The state has emerged as a major global center of religious tourism through Mahakal Lok (Ujjain), Omkareshwar, Orchha and Khajuraho. The tourism and hospitality sector will also provide direct economic support from the corridor’s improved roads and high-speed rail links.
