Amrit Thoughts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday dedicated three sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor to the nation at a ceremony held in Vadodara, Gujarat. Along with this, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of railway projects worth Rs 30,985 crore and flagged off four goods trains and one passenger train. He said that we are strengthening India's infrastructure to move people and goods faster, create new opportunities and boost economic growth. The railway projects for which PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone during the ceremony organized at the Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) Pavilion Ground here include new railway lines, doubling and gauge conversion. The Prime Minister inaugurated three 326 km long sections of the DFC built at a cost of over Rs 20,703 crore.
Goods transportation will speed up from Mumbai to industrial centers
The three sections of DFC he inaugurated include Sanand (North)-Makarpura, New Umargaon-New Saphale and New Saphale-Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) section. According to Railways, having direct rail link with JNPT will speed up the movement of import-export goods, strengthen connectivity between industrial centers and ports, reduce logistics costs and reduce pressure on Mumbai's rail network.
With the commissioning of these sections the Western DFC network became operational. This will ensure uninterrupted freight transportation from the country's commercial capital Mumbai to industrial centers like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Delhi.
Green signal for goods trains from New Sanand to JNPT
During this, the Prime Minister flagged off goods trains from New Sanand (North), New Makarpura, New Umargaon and New JNPT, Mumbai. Besides, the new train between Vadodara and Tanda Road was also flagged off. The start of this train service will benefit the people of Vadodara, Chhota Udepur of Gujarat and Alirajpur districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Prime Minister Modi also dedicated to the nation the new Jobat-Tanda Road railway line built under the Chhota Udaipur-Dhar project, which will connect the remote and tribal areas of Alirajpur to the national rail network.
Third-fourth line of Vadodara-Ratlam railway line will increase capacity.
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for construction of Vadodara-Ratlam 3rd and 4th line, Miyagam Karjan-Choranda-Malsar gauge conversion and Vishwamitri-Dabhoi Doubling Project. This will increase passenger and freight capacity, reduce rail congestion and strengthen connectivity between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
Modi laid the foundation stone for the construction work of 259 km long Vadodara-Ratlam third and fourth railway lines with an estimated cost of Rs 8,885 crore. The construction of these lines will increase the capacity on the existing route and ease the movement of passenger and goods trains.
Jobat-Tanda Road Railway Section dedicated
Along with this he laid the foundation stone of Vishwamitri-Dabhoi Railway Line Doubling Project with an estimated cost of Rs 394 crore and Miyagam Karjan-Choranda-Malsar Gauge Conversion Project with an estimated cost of Rs 450 crore. Apart from this, Modi will also inaugurate the Jobat-Tanda Road railway section built at a cost of Rs 553 crore. This will improve rail connectivity in tribal and remote areas of the state.
