Mark Zuckerberg’s stance towards AI, jobs of 14 thousand people in Meta are in danger

New Delhi. The world’s leading tech company Meta, which operates big services like Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, is once again preparing to lay off employees on a large scale. The special thing is that the company is not in loss, yet thousands of jobs are under threat. According to reports, Meta is planning to lay off about 10 percent of its total employees i.e. about 8 thousand people. Along with this, about 6 thousand new recruitments have also been banned. This means that overall 14 thousand jobs are going to be directly affected.

This time, the biggest reason for layoffs is not believed to be to reduce expenses, but the company is rapidly moving towards Artificial Intelligence i.e. AI. Meta is changing its entire business model and is now moving towards getting more work done by machines and smart systems.
Such systems are being developed inside the company, which can do many human tasks on their own. Writing code, creating content, analyzing data and many other technical processes are now increasingly being handled by AI tools. This is why the pressure on traditional tech jobs is increasing.

Sundar Pichai has already said that a large amount of coding work in Google is being done with the help of AI. In such a situation, it is clear that the roles of coders and many other tech employees are changing rapidly. Mark Zuckerberg has also indicated earlier that in the coming times, AI will take over many of the tasks which are currently done by humans. The company is investing billions of dollars on AI infrastructure, so that more and more work can be automated in the future.

This change is not limited to just meta. Microsoft, Amazon and many other big companies are also moving in this direction. Thousands of jobs have been lost in the tech sector in 2026 and in many cases AI is being considered a major reason for this. However, the picture is not entirely negative. While AI is reducing some traditional jobs, it is also creating new types of high-skilled jobs. Meta itself is rapidly recruiting for positions like AI Engineer, Data Scientist and Machine Learning Expert.

The real change is that now companies want to work with fewer people and more AI systems instead of more employees. Meta’s focus is now not on remaining just a social media company, but on transforming itself into a strong AI-first company. This is the reason why the world of jobs seems to be changing rapidly.
