Michelin to unveil Vietnam’s new starred restaurants next month
This year’s ceremony will feature renowned guest chefs from across the region, showcasing a diverse range of culinary excellence at the reception, including three-Michelin-star chef Stefan Stiller of Taian Table and two-Michelin-star chef Garima Arora of Gaa, alongside other leading figures in the gastronomic world.
At the event, the Michelin Guide will announce restaurants honored across several categories, including the Michelin Guide Special Awards, Michelin Selected restaurants, Bib Gourmand eateries recognized for high-quality food at reasonable prices, besides establishments awarded Michelin stars.
The Michelin Guide first came to Vietnam in 2023. After three years, Vietnam now has 9 restaurants awarded one Michelin star and more than 100 restaurants that have received other awards.
The 2026 ceremony also holds special historical significance as the global culinary community marks the 100th anniversary of the Michelin Star, one of the world’s most prestigious symbols of dining excellence.
According to the Michelin Guide, its inspectors assess venues based on five criteria: the personality of the chef as presented in the cuisine, the harmony of flavors, the mastery of cooking techniques, the quality of products, and the consistency both over time and across the entire menu.
In the Michelin system, one star signifies a very good restaurant, two stars mean excellent cooking that is worth a detour, and three stars mean exceptional cuisine that is worth a special journey.
According to the Michelin Guide website, there are over 3,000 Michelin-starred restaurants in nearly 40 different countries.
