Millie Bobby Brown has broken her silence months after facing social media criticism over claims that her husband, Jake Bongiovi, is an unsupportive partner.
Speaking to Kylie Kelce on the June 11 episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast, the 22-year-old English actress defended her 24-year-old partner despite the ongoing backlash.
The criticism began in August 2025, when viral paparazzi shots showed Brown single-handedly carrying a car seat and multiple backpacks.
Shortly after the images gained traction online, users criticised Bongiovi, Jon Bon Jovi’s son, alleging he did not assist his wife during public outings.
Now, after months of ongoing public scrutiny, the Stranger Things star has shut down the claims, noting that her husband is a capable and supportive partner, contrary to online speculation.
“Hi, I’m Millie Bobbie Brown and I’m not gonna lie, when did women become incapable of holding their own bags, car seats and stuff?” she said.
Brown added, “This stems from me holding all of my suitcases and bags and my kid, and people are like, ‘Your husband doesn’t hold a single thing.’ And I’m like, ‘Because I’m three miles ahead. I’ve been planning this all night.'”
She noted that the discussion surrounding Bongiovi not carrying her things undermines the idea of women’s empowerment.
“We’re all about empowering girls and, ‘You got it’ and ‘You don’t need a man,’ but then when I’m like, ‘OK, I can carry my own things,’ people are like, ‘Where’s your husband?'” the Enola Holmes actress explained.
She revealed that, in reality, no one truly knows her husband.
“Nobody knows my husband. My husband is the most polite, sweet, will-do-anything-for-me. But he also knows I’m capable,” Brown shared.

The couple tied the knot quietly in May 2024 before holding a second wedding ceremony in Italy five months later. They announced the arrival of their baby in August 2025.
“This summer we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy. And then there were 3,” Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi wrote in a joint post on Instagram.
