Missed his debut 3 years ago, now got a chance in Team India again, what did Prabhasimran say?
Prabhsimran Singh was in the gym when he learned about his selection in the Indian T20 team for the Zimbabwe tour later this month. This 25 year old wicketkeeper batsman from Patiala left the gym session incomplete. He immediately ran towards his home so that he could share this happiness with his family. Prabhsimran Singh has scored more than 500 runs in the last two seasons for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), for which he has been rewarded.
Aggressive opening batsman Prabhasimran has been selected in the Indian team for the second time. Earlier, he had gone to China with Team India for the 2023 Asian Games but he did not get a chance to play. Prabhasimran has been kept in the Indian team as the second wicketkeeper after Ishan Kishan for the Zimbabwe tour. Sanju Samson could not make a place in the team. Prabhasimran has said that if I get a chance in Zimbabwe, I will perform my best.

Don’t want to return without playing – Prabhasimran

He said, ‘Now I do not want to return from the Zimbabwe tour without playing. I have always thought of playing for the country and I want to be in the team. If I get a chance, I will perform my best so that I do not have to be left out of the team.

Credit for selection given to Yuvraj-Ponting
Yuvraj Singh has been the mentor of both Prabhasimran and Abhishek Sharma, who have played age-group cricket with their fellow players from Punjab. Prabhasimran said, ‘There was no session with Yuvi Paaji after IPL but I called him after being selected in the Indian team. There was a long discussion. He narrated his experiences. He always says that one has to be one step ahead of the bowler.
Regarding the contribution of PBKS head coach Ricky Ponting, he said, ‘Both are different personalities but the thinking is the same. Ricky sir contributed a lot to my success. He told me in 2024 that I will be retained in the team. He told me he would make me a better player and he did. I am thankful to both Yuvi paaji and Ricky sir.
