Bihar EOU Raid: Big action by EOU in Siwan adjacent to UP border, excise inspector accused of possessing 201.97% excess property, rapid raids at 5 locations
Lucknow/Digital Desk: The campaign of the Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) against corruption and disproportionate assets cases in Bihar is continuously intensifying. In this series, EOU took major action against Excise Inspector Ankesh Kumar Gond posted in Siwan district bordering Uttar Pradesh and raided five of his locations simultaneously. According to the Economic Offenses Division of Bihar Police Headquarters, preliminary investigation has found evidence of the officer having assets 201.97 percent more than his known income. Investigation has also revealed that his alleged assets are Rs 2 crore 36 lakh 31 thousand more than his legitimate income.
Siwan is a district adjacent to the border of Uttar Pradesh. In such cases, in cases related to economic crimes, the investigating agencies also investigate the financial transactions, assets, investments and possible connections of the concerned officials with other states. However, in this case, no official information regarding any property or investment in Uttar Pradesh has been made public by EOU yet.
Case registered under Prevention of Corruption Act
The Economic Offenses Unit has registered a case against Excise Inspector Ankesh Kumar Gond under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (Amended 2018). After this, a search warrant was obtained from the Special Court (Surveillance) located in Patna. After the permission of the court, five separate teams were formed under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) level officers and action was initiated simultaneously. The search operation began on Wednesday and continued till Thursday morning.

Documents, bank accounts and investment documents found
The EOU team is seizing documents, records and other records in the office and barrack premises of the Excise Department located in Siwan and investigating them. Apart from this, bank accounts, investments, movable and immovable properties and other financial documents are also being investigated. The investigating agency is trying to find out by what means the allegedly acquired property was generated and what financial transactions are behind it. According to officials, the process of search and investigation is still going on. Further action and detailed information will be revealed only after the investigation is completed.

The Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) has intensified action against economic crimes and corruption in Bihar. ADG Dr. Amit Kumar Jain himself is monitoring the verification of complaints received in cases related to disproportionate assets, corruption and illegal financial activities. According to information received from sources, the focus of EOU is on gathering evidence and taking action against those who have acquired illegal wealth by misusing government position. Recently, under the direction of ADG Dr. Jain, many bureaucrats of the state have taken action and indicated that strict action will be taken under the law against anyone found guilty in corruption cases.
