Lord’s Test: Indian women reached 285 runs with the half-centuries of Smriti, Harmanpreet and Deepti.

India took all the wickets in 74.5 overs with the half-centuries of opener Smriti Mandhana (83 runs, 108 balls, 202 balls, one six, 11 fours), captain Harmanpreet Kaur (58 runs, 121 balls, 139 minutes, seven fours) and Deepti Sharma (57 runs, 87 balls, 126 minutes, seven fours) on the first day of the only women’s test here. Fast bowler Izzy Wong (2-41) broke the partnership by bowling out Rodrigues in the 19th over, while vice-captain Mandhana got the support of Harmanpreet and a strong partnership of 89 runs was formed between the two for the fourth wicket. Wong also took the wicket of Mandhana, whose catch was caught by wicketkeeper Amy Jones (4-190).

Deepti and Sneh Rana added 45 runs for the seventh wicket.

On the other hand, Harmpreet became the first Test victim of Maddy Villiers after achieving the feat of scoring a half-century in her first innings in every format at Lord’s Ground. Apart from Villiers, Ellis Capsey and Shri Charani have also debuted in this match. After Hamanpreet, Richa Ghosh (13 runs) departed in quick succession. But Deepti took the team close to three hundred and fifty with a partnership of 45 runs on the seventh wicket with Sneh Rana (13 runs).
