Lord’s Test: Indian women reached 285 runs with the half-centuries of Smriti, Harmanpreet and Deepti.

India took all the wickets in 74.5 overs with the half-centuries of opener Smriti Mandhana (83 runs, 108 balls, 202 balls, one six, 11 fours), captain Harmanpreet Kaur (58 runs, 121 balls, 139 minutes, seven fours) and Deepti Sharma (57 runs, 87 balls, 126 minutes, seven fours) on the first day of the only women’s test here. Scored 285 runs in loss. Host England scored 21 runs for one wicket in 11 overs at the end of the game on Friday.

England, who started the innings in the last hour of the final session, got their first blow in the fourth over, when Kranti Gaur, who was playing her last international match, sent back opener Tammy Beaumont (two runs) (1-9). But after this, Maia Bouchier (17 runs, 40 balls, two fours) and Heather Knight (one run) did not allow any other damage in the remaining time. On the basis of first innings, England is still 264 runs behind.

Mandhana and Jemima took the third wicket and added 64 runs.

Forced to bat first at Lord’s, India’s openers Shafali Verma (0) and Yastika Bhatia (12 runs, two fours) were dismissed within the first seven overs (2-37). However, Smriti Mandhana, the youngest female cricketer to play her 300th international match, along with Jemimah Rodrigues (35 runs, 38 balls, 56 minutes, five fours) handled the matter and made a partnership of 64 runs for the third wicket.

Partnership of 89 runs between Harmanpreet and Mandhana

Fast bowler Izzy Wong (2-41) broke the partnership by bowling out Rodrigues in the 19th over, while vice-captain Mandhana got the support of Harmanpreet and a strong partnership of 89 runs was formed between the two for the fourth wicket. Wong also took the wicket of Mandhana, whose catch was caught by wicketkeeper Amy Jones (4-190).

Deepti and Sneh Rana added 45 runs for the seventh wicket.

On the other hand, Harmpreet became the first Test victim of Maddy Villiers after achieving the feat of scoring a half-century in her first innings in every format at Lord’s Ground. Apart from Villiers, Ellis Capsey and Shri Charani have also debuted in this match. After Hamanpreet, Richa Ghosh (13 runs) departed in quick succession. But Deepti took the team close to three hundred and fifty with a partnership of 45 runs on the seventh wicket with Sneh Rana (13 runs).

However, after this the last four batsmen returned within 11 runs, of which the last three wickets went to Sophie Ecclestone (3-68). Apart from Wong, Lauren Filer and Maddy Villiers also took two wickets each.
