Mobile Ban at Kedarnath Dham: Legal Action for Photos or Reels

Authorities at Kedarnath Temple have imposed a complete ban on mobile phone usage inside the shrine to maintain its spiritual atmosphere.

Devotees can no longer carry phones, click photos, record videos, or make reels within the temple premises.

Temple Committee Member Vineet Posti said the decision aims to protect the sanctity of the holy site and ensure smooth darshan for pilgrims. He emphasised that any violation will invite legal action, reflecting a zero-tolerance policy as pilgrim footfall increases during the yatra season.

Officials stationed at the temple will monitor compliance and confiscate devices found in restricted areas. The committee believes the move will help devotees focus on worship rather than social media activity.

The Kedarnath mobile ban follows growing concerns over viral videos and reels filmed inside sacred spaces. Religious leaders supported the decision, calling it essential to uphold the dignity of one of India’s most revered pilgrimage sites.
