A huge and revolutionary change is currently being witnessed in the politics and education system of West Bengal, where the Chief Minister of the state, Suvendu Adhikari, has taken many tough and historic decisions, keeping the future, health and academic excellence of the students paramount. Recently, while addressing a public event, the Chief Minister bluntly announced that the use of mobile phones by children should be completely banned in schools across the state, even if this tough political decision may result in some votes for him or his party being lost. Giving the example of the state of Gujarat, the CM said that there is already a complete ban on the use of mobile phones in school premises till class 12th, and on the same lines, the West Bengal government is also preparing to take strict steps to protect students from digital distractions and side effects.
Mobile is a serious threat to children’s education and health.
Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari, while cautioning parents and teachers, expressed deep concern over the fact that modern technology and smartphones are having a very dangerous and negative impact on the tender minds of children. In today’s time, countless such cases are continuously coming to light where small children and teenagers remain glued to the mobile screen in the dark till late night even after their parents sleep, due to which not only their precious sleep is getting completely affected but also their eyesight and mental health is being adversely affected. CM bluntly said that this serious problem cannot be ignored and for this, parents also need to be extremely alert and aware of their children so that they can control the digital addiction of children in time. He clarified that the State Government is considering this issue of national and social interest and in the coming days, some very strict and decisive administrative steps will be taken to protect children from this digital disease, irrespective of its political consequences.
Two modern ‘CM Shri’ schools will open in every district of the state.
Bringing a big change on the education front, Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari has made a big and ambitious announcement of opening two modern and well equipped ‘CM Shri Schools’ schools in every district of West Bengal. This new initiative will be developed completely on the lines of the popular ‘PM Shri’ scheme of the Central Government, under which advanced technology, digital classrooms and world-class infrastructure will be made available in these selected schools so that the poor and middle class children studying in government schools can also get the best education like in private schools. Along with this, the Chief Minister has also shared his plan to establish Centers of Excellence in Sports to promote sports and physical activities in the northern and western districts of the state, so that the young players of Bengal can showcase their talent at the national and international level.
Aiming to be among the top six states by improving education infrastructure
Expressing concern over the declining standards of government and state-run schools in West Bengal, the Chief Minister stressed that over the last few years, students here have lagged behind in terms of education and competitive examinations compared to students in other developed states of the country, which would no longer be tolerated at any cost. He said in strong words that we will have to completely improve our educational infrastructure at any cost and make our place in the list of top six leading states of the country. The Chief Minister also called upon all the teachers of the state to understand their moral responsibility and help the students with full devotion to regain a strong footing in their studies and achieve higher heights of excellence. This comprehensive educational reform campaign is expected to brighten the future of lakhs of students of the state and this step will completely change the condition and direction of the education system of Bengal.
