Modi Cabinet Meeting DA Hike New Updates September 2026: Once again an important meeting of the Union Cabinet was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Since this meeting, the question is arising in the minds of crores of central employees and pensioners of the country whether the government has taken any major decision regarding their Dearness Allowance (DA). The DA employees are eagerly waiting for the meeting for the July-December half year, hence they are keeping a close watch on every cabinet meeting. Let us know what special updates have come out this time in Wednesday’s cabinet meeting regarding DA apart from railway projects.
Three big projects approved for railways
In this cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, mainly three big multi-tracking projects of the Railway Ministry were approved, which will cost a total of Rs 10,783 crore. These projects include construction of the fourth line between Kharagpur-Jharsuguda and Katni-Pendra Road sections and the third line between Bilaspur (Uslarpur)-Pendra Road section. These projects will pass through 14 districts of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, which will increase the network of Indian Railways by about 656 kilometers. The government says that through these rail projects, about 4,790 villages and 56 lakh people will benefit from better rail connectivity.
These big issues were also discussed
Apart from this, these projects will also connect many major religious and tourist places like Taratarini Temple, Shrikshetra Jagannath Temple, Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, Amarkantak Temple and Ratanpur Mahamaya Temple. These routes are also very important in transportation of essential commodities like coal, cement, iron and steel. With the increase in capacity, it will be possible to transport approximately 27 million tonnes of additional freight every year. From the environmental point of view, the government also said that this will reduce the import of oil by about 12 crore liters and reduce the emissions of 62 crore kilograms of carbon dioxide, which is equivalent to planting about 2.48 crore trees.
What was the decision on DA of central employees?
Now the biggest question is whether there was any discussion or decision on Dearness Allowance (DA) of central employees in this cabinet meeting? So let us tell you that no discussion or decision regarding DA has been taken in this meeting. It is expected that the government may call a cabinet meeting in October around Navratri or Dussehra and give the green signal to increase DA. According to media reports, the government can increase the DA of central employees by 3%, after which the DA can increase to 63%. It is noteworthy that earlier the government had increased DA by 2%, increasing it from 58% to 60% and DR for pensioners was also increased to 60%. Now employees may have to wait till October for the next increase.
