‘Modi is calm, stable, strict! Don’t look at me, look at him’, before the G-7 side meeting, Trump’s ‘wound dressing’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump are scheduled to meet on the sidelines of the G-7 summit in France. Before that, Trump attacked Modi. At one stage of the conference, the US President praised Modi. He claimed that Modi is calm and steady. So, let all eyes be on Modi, not Trump. Informed circles think that Trump’s sudden expansion is actually ‘dressing the wound’.
On the other hand, at the lunch organized in the presence of the state leaders, Trump in a light mood highlighted the difference between himself and Prime Minister Modi. Said, “Prime Minister Modi is calm, steady and very efficient and tough – but I am not like that. Look at him.”
Incidentally, in front of US President Donald Trump, Modi said, “Many Indian lives have been lost. The safety of the seafarers who connect different countries through waterways is our responsibility. We have to ensure that the waterways remain safe. And the seafarers are able to do their work without fear.” In his speech, Modi has clearly given a strong message to Trump. In this situation, it is believed that the American president wanted to give some ‘wound dressing’.
It is good to say that everyone is watching the Trump-Modi meeting. There is the most interest in what will be discussed in today’s meeting about the trade agreement. America has increasingly become a very important market for Indian products. India’s exports to the US have increased from $10.9 billion in 2002-03 to $87.2 billion in 2025-26. However, imports also increased from $4.4 billion to $52.9 billion. But that growth rate is not equal to exports.
Meanwhile, both India and America have the opportunity to benefit in the field of energy. As Washington seeks ways to reduce trade deficit with India; At the same time, New Delhi has been consistently increasing its imports of US crude oil and petroleum products. In this situation, there is no doubt that the meeting between the two leaders of the two countries is going to be of immense importance.
