Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Aamir has made it clear that he has no intention of returning to the Pakistan cricket team. After acquiring British citizenship, Aamir told that to play as a local player in England’s domestic cricket, some rules have to be followed. Due to these rules, he can no longer play international cricket for any other country. Aamir said that his career with Pakistan is now over.
Mohammad Aamir clarified his position during a conversation on Mohammad Farqan Bhatti’s YouTube channel. He told that cricketers playing as local players in competitions like County Championship and The Hundred have to sign a document. In this, they have to declare that they will not represent any other country while keeping the status of a local player. Aamir said that he is now a British local and that is why his old chapter of playing for Pakistan has ended.
took retirement twice
Aamir retired from international cricket for the first time in December 2020. At that time he had cited differences with the Pakistan team management and his dissatisfaction as the reason for this. However, after about four years, he changed his decision and returned to the Pakistan team before the 2024 T20 World Cup. But this comeback did not last long. In December 2024, Aamir once again announced his retirement from international cricket. He played his last match for Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Hope of return from British citizenship ended
Aamir has got British citizenship through his wife Narjis Khan. After this he can play in England’s domestic competitions as a local player and does not take the place of a foreign player. Recently he was also seen playing in The Hundred. However, getting the status of a local player also comes with restrictions regarding international cricket. This is the reason why Aamir’s chances of playing for Pakistan again are almost over. His new statement has also put an end to the ongoing speculations about his comeback.
