Cricket News: When Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned to Team India after four years, there was a ray of hope for many players, who had been waiting for a chance in the team for a long time. The most prominent name among these is that of experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami. But, the latest statement given by Shami on the possibilities of his comeback may not be liked by BCCI.

Actually, Mohammed Shami says that if he does not get a chance in Team India again, it will not cause him any harm. According to a report by Rev Sports, when fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who is preparing for the Ranji Trophy match against Delhi in Bengal Kalyani, was asked about Bhuvneshwar's return to the national team, he replied candidly.
Shami said, “Bhuvneshwar Kumar got a chance to play for India, and it is a good thing for him. But his selection does not matter to me. Wherever I get a chance to play, I will give my best. Right now my entire focus is on this Ranji match.” When he was asked whether Bhuvneshwar's return gave him any hope of making a comeback in the Indian dressing room?
Answering this question candidly, the fast bowler said, “The same has been happening with me for the last two-three years. I have been performing well consistently and have proved my fitness for Bengal. If I don't get a chance to play for India again, then there is no harm to me in it.”
Let us tell you that Mohammed Shami has been out of the Test team for a long time. He played his last Test match in the 2023 WTC Final against Australia at The Oval. Meanwhile, Shami played his most recent ODI match in the 2025 Champions Trophy Final, where he was the joint-highest wicket-taker with nine wickets in five matches.

Shami's latest statement shows that he has given up waiting for his return to the team. Now it will be interesting to see whether Shami returns to the team after Bhuvneshwar or not.
