Mohsin Naqvi-led Pakistan Cricket Board looking to launch sixes league

Amidst the ongoing tri-series involving Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and England, there is news that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is looking to launch a new league. The proposed new venture could be along the lines of the Hong Kong Sixes tournament, which started 34 years ago, with the Men in Green winning the title on six different occasions.

According to News 18, it has come to light that the tournament could be named PSL Sixes. It was also reported that the move is being brought into effect, with Mohsin Naqvi aiming to increase revenue. The new league will also improve engagement with fans.

Salman Naseer, the chief executive of PCB, was quoted by News 18 as saying, “Nothing has been finalized as of yet, but there are some exciting plans. One of those is a tournament called the PSL sixes, which will be played in the off-season.”

“Looking into the prospect of launching this tournament, it will be entertaining and exciting. It would also become engaging for the fans when it becomes a regular feature. We may even look at going into smaller stadiums and cities, where the PSL hasn’t gone till now. The fans over there are eager to watch cricket, and conducting a smaller event might be feasible, which we are exploring.”

Pakistan tri-series moving into second leg

After three exciting games in Rawalpindi, the second and final leg of the series will be played in Lahore. The fourth game of the series will witness hosts Pakistan take on England at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday. Shaheen Afridi‘s side lead the table with four points from two games.
