Monalisa became famous through Kumbh Mela, her husband Farman denied the claim of early marriage
Bureau Prayagraj- The Kerala High Court has recently granted interim protection from arrest to Mohammed Farman Khan, husband of Kumbh Mela fame Monalisa Bhosale, in a kidnapping case. The case was reportedly registered based on the allegation that Bhosale was a minor and Farman had kidnapped him [मोहम्मद फरमान और अन्य बनाम केरल राज्य और अन्य].
In a petition filed in the court last month, the couple said that Bhosale turned 18 in January this year and was a major when she married Farman in March. Hence, they sought anticipatory bail in any case registered regarding their marriage. They sought protection from the court as they feared that they might be arrested in a kidnapping case allegedly registered on the complaint of Bhosale’s father in Madhya Pradesh.
On March 23, Justice Kausar Edapagath passed an interim order staying the arrest of the petitioners. They found that there were documents supporting their marriage and it was also revealed that the couple was now living together as husband and wife.
The Court said, “Annexure AIII shows that the petitioners got married on 11.03.2026. According to the petitioners, they are now living together as husband and wife. In the circumstances, the petitioners are ordered not to be arrested till the next date of hearing. On April 8, the Court extended this protection from arrest till May 20, when the matter will be heard next.
The court passed this interim order keeping in mind the statement of the Senior Public Prosecutor that no response has been received from the Madhya Pradesh (MP) Police yet.
Monalisa Bhosle became famous for her striking beauty last year after her video went viral while selling pearl necklaces at the 2025 Kumbh Mela. She married Farman in Kerala on March 11. This marriage was discussed a lot in the media. The couple said that they met during the shooting of a Malayalam film and fell in love before getting married.
However, their marriage of different religions sparked controversy. Some people claimed that Monalisa is only 16 years old and hence, she has not yet reached the legal age to get married. Anticipating arrest, the couple together filed an application for anticipatory bail in the Kerala High Court.
