Monsoon Forecast – IMD Warns 14 States of Heavy Rain & 21 States Storms Till June 28, Full List

Monsoon Forecast:- Monsoon is increasing rapidly across the country. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released the latest weather bulletin for the country. Heavy rains are expected in northeast India and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim this week, the Met department said. Extremely heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places in Meghalaya on June 22, 2026. According to the IMD, the southwest monsoon has made its presence felt in Maharashtra, Telangana, the remaining parts of Karnataka, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and a few other parts of Bihar today.

Over the next 48 hours, the southwest monsoon will completely cover the rest of Maharashtra (including Mumbai), Telangana, and Odisha, as well as a few more areas in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Bihar. The Met Department has already issued an alert for thunderstorms and thunderstorms for this week. So let’s see which states will get heavy rain this week and where the storm will hit.

  • An alert has been issued for rain in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during June 22-28. Besides, rains are likely in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during June 22-24 and June 28 and in Rayalaseema during June 22-25 and June 28.
  • The Met Department has issued a red alert for heavy rains in Meghalaya. It has received 12-20 cm of rainfall over the last 24 hours. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may witness heavy rains during June 22-23 and then June 26-28.
  • A very heavy rain alert has been issued in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam on June 23. Besides, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura will receive heavy rains between June 23 and June 26-28.
  • Heavy rains are forecast for June 22-23 and June 27-28 in Bihar.
  • Odisha has issued an alert for continuous heavy rains from June 22 to 25.

Thunderstorms, Thundersquall Alert in these states

  • Thundersquall in Rajasthan: According to the Met Department, severe thundersquall (severe thunderstorm) with a speed of 50-60 km/h (gust 70 km/h) is expected in eastern and western Rajasthan on June 22 and 23. Strong winds will continue from June 25-28.
  • An alert has been issued for strong winds of 50-60 km/h in Bihar and Jharkhand on June 22 and June 25.
  • Delhi-NCR, Punjab and Haryana: Thunderstorms and dust storms with gusts of 40-50 km/h (gust 60 km/h) are likely to occur in Delhi, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana and Punjab from June 22 to 26. This will bring down the temperature and relieve people from the heat.
  • Hailstorm in Himachal and Jammu: June 22. An alert has been issued for thunderstorms and hailstorms in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh. Besides, there is also a strong wind alert in Uttarakhand till June 25.

Heat Wave and Warm Night conditions warning:

According to the Met Department, heat wave conditions may prevail in some places in Chhattisgarh on June 22-23. Besides, during June 22-25 in eastern Madhya Pradesh; in eastern Uttar Pradesh during June 22-26; in Jharkhand during June 24-25; Very excessive heat wave conditions may occur at some places in Vidarbha during June 22-26.
