Monsoon rages in half of the country, ‘red alert’ issued for heavy rain and storm in next few hours in 17 states
New Delhi: There is going to be a big change in the weather patterns amid the activation of monsoon in large parts of the country. A low pressure system is developing rapidly over the north-west Bay of Bengal. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), this weather system will cross the coastal areas of Odisha and move towards Chhattisgarh in the next 24 hours. Due to its impact, 17 states of the country are facing the threat of torrential rains, lightning and destructive winds blowing at a speed of 50 to 80 kilometers per hour for the next few days.

The Meteorological Department has clarified that during July 5 to 7, the maximum impact of this cyclonic system will be seen in the areas of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Konkan-Goa, Saurashtra-Kutch and Central Maharashtra. Warnings of extremely heavy rain have been issued at many places in these states. Along with this, the sea will remain extremely rough and rough in the coastal areas of Odisha, West Bengal and North Andhra Pradesh including North-West Bay of Bengal till July 7. Keeping security in mind, IMD has given strict instructions to fishermen not to enter the sea on these dates.
Rain with strong winds in Delhi till July 8
The weather trend has started changing in the country’s capital Delhi and its surrounding areas (NCR) from today i.e. 6th July. IMD has issued an alert of storm and rain in Delhi from 6 to 8 July. Light to moderate rain can be recorded from Monday morning itself. Along with this, strong winds are expected to blow at a speed of 50 kilometers per hour. Due to this change, the maximum temperature of Delhi may fall to 33 degrees Celsius. Due to which the people of Delhi will get great relief from the humid heat.
Double attack of lightning and storm in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar
In UP and Bihar also, the Meteorological Department has issued a severe warning for the next three days from 6th to 8th July. There is a possibility of heavy rains along with thunderstorms in districts ranging from Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Bulandshahr, Baghpat, Saharanpur and Muzaffarnagar in western UP to Gorakhpur, Deoria and Kushinagar in eastern Uttar Pradesh. During this time, winds will blow at a speed of 40 to 60 km/hour and there will be the highest risk of lightning.
Advice not to go in open fields or under trees
There is an alert of heavy rain till July 8 in most of the districts including the capital Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga and Purnia. The local administration has advised people not to go into open fields or under trees during bad weather. Apart from this, the monsoon is now rapidly moving towards the remaining parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab, due to which good rains are also expected in the hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the next few days.
