Monsoon Update: Alert of heavy rain in 17 states, IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather warnings in 17 states during the next 12 to 24 hours and advised people to remain alert.

According to the Meteorological Department, strong winds can blow at a speed of 40 to 70 kilometers per hour in many areas. Apart from this, there is also a possibility of lightning, waterlogging, landslides and traffic disruption in some states.

Possibility of heavy rain in Northeast India and Himalayan regions

According to the latest forecast of IMD, there may be heavy to very heavy rainfall over Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Due to continuous rain in these areas, the risk of incidents like increase in river level and landslides may increase. Experts say that people living in hilly areas and travelers should keep a constant eye on the weather conditions.

The Meteorological Department has said that conditions remain favorable for further advance of monsoon in some parts of Maharashtra, Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and Chhattisgarh in the coming days. This may further increase the rainfall activities in these states.

Signs of relief in Delhi-NCR

Some relief from the heat is expected in the National Capital Region of Delhi and surrounding areas. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be light rain and strong winds along with thunderstorms. There is a possibility of a drop in the maximum temperature due to rain, which may provide temporary relief to the people from humidity and heat. However, the chances of widespread and persistent rainfall are still limited.

Heat wave continues in Uttar Pradesh

At present, the effect of heat and heat wave may persist in many parts of Uttar Pradesh. Especially in some districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, the temperature is expected to be above normal for the next few days. However, by the middle of the week, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in some areas, due to which a change in the weather may be seen.

Danger of heavy rain and thunderstorm in Bihar

In many districts of Bihar, the Meteorological Department has issued warnings regarding heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms. The intensity of rain is likely to be higher in the northern and eastern regions of the state. Experts have advised farmers, travelers and people working in open spaces to stay in safe places during inclement weather.

The rainy season is also likely to continue in the Himalayan states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. A forecast of rain and strong winds has been issued in many districts. There may be a danger of landslides, road blockage and rise in the water level of rivers and streams in these states. The administration has given instructions to increase surveillance at the local level.

Change in weather patterns in Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir

There is a possibility of dust storm and light rain in Rajasthan. Strong winds may blow in some areas, affecting visibility. At the same time, there is a possibility of hailstorm in some areas along with rain in Jammu and Kashmir. Weather can change rapidly in hilly areas, so travelers have been advised to take extra caution.
