Monsoon Update: Heavy rain and strong storm expected in 20 states…

Monsoon is now wreaking havoc across the country with heavy rains and storms. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rain, strong storm and lightning in 20 states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh for July 11.

According to the Meteorological Department, wind speed can reach 70 to 80 kilometers per hour in some areas, while there is a danger of lightning and waterlogging in many areas.

Experts say that on one hand the activation of monsoon will provide relief from the scorching heat, while on the other hand problems like floods, landslides and traffic disruptions may also arise in many states.

Rain and storm alert in these 20 states

According to the latest forecast of IMD, the impact of monsoon will be maximum in North and East India. The states for which warnings of heavy rain and strong thunderstorms have been issued include Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Tripura, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

The Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of hailstorm and thunderstorm along with strong winds in some areas. People have been advised to avoid going to open places during bad weather and follow the advice of the local administration.

Weather will change again in Delhi-NCR

There is a possibility of heavy rain once again in the national capital Delhi and surrounding areas on Friday. According to the Meteorological Department, winds can blow at a speed of 75 to 80 kilometers per hour along with heavy rain. Due to rain, incidents like waterlogging in low-lying areas, traffic jams and falling of trees can occur. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be around 37 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be 29 degrees Celsius.

Heavy rain warning in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

Heavy rain alert has been issued for many districts in western, central and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh. Meerut, Agra, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Bahraich, Barabanki, Rae Bareli, Mirzapur and surrounding areas may experience heavy rain with winds at a speed of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour. There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall and strong winds in Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Vaishali, West Champaran, Purnia, Katihar, Kishanganj and other districts in Bihar. The Meteorological Department has also advised to be alert regarding incidents of lightning.

Danger of landslides in hilly states

Due to continuous rains in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, the risk of landslides has increased. Many hilly routes may be affected, causing difficulties to travelers. Heavy rain is forecast in many districts of Uttarakhand including Nainital, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Haridwar. The administration has appealed to the passengers to travel only after knowing the weather.

Impact in Eastern and North-Eastern India also

Monsoon will also be active in West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam and Tripura. Heavy rain and strong winds are expected in many areas including Kolkata, Darjeeling, Cooch Behar and Alipurduar. Moderate to heavy rain may occur in many districts of Jharkhand including Ranchi, Bokaro, Deoghar, Dumka and Hazaribagh. Special caution has been advised in view of lightning and strong winds in these areas.

Special advice for farmers and fishermen

The Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea in view of the bad weather in the maritime areas. Marine activities may be affected due to strong winds and high waves. Farmers have also been advised to avoid working in open fields during the possibility of thunderstorm and lightning and ensure the safety of crops and agricultural equipment.

While rains will continue over most parts of the country, the weather is likely to remain relatively dry in some western and north-western districts of Rajasthan. Temperature may increase in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner and surrounding areas. However, there will be a possibility of strong winds at some places.
