Monsoon wreaks havoc in Uttarakhand, 32 roads closed due to heavy rain, administration issues alert
Dehradun: This time monsoon has become a disaster in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. Let us tell you that due to continuous torrential rains in the state, incidents of landslides have been reported in many areas. Dozens of roads have been closed due to slipping of rocks and debris from the mountains. Due to this, the everyday life of common people has been affected and there is a lot of difficulty in commuting.
32 roads closed in the state
According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, currently 32 roads in the state are completely closed. Most of these roads have been blocked due to debris or boulders falling from the mountain. Officials said that several teams are engaged in the field to remove debris from the affected roads. The aim of the administration is to restore traffic by opening the roads as soon as possible. The employees of the department are working day and night regarding this so that people do not face any problem.
Water level of rivers rising rapidly
Due to continuous rains, the water level of the rivers of the state has also increased rapidly. Many other rivers including Alaknanda are flowing near the danger mark. People living on the banks of the river have been instructed to remain alert. Besides, the administration has also increased surveillance in low-lying areas.

According to Meteorological Center Dehradun, there was heavy rain in the state on Tuesday. The highest rainfall was recorded in Pantnagar, where 107 mm water fell. Along with this, 79.5 mm rainfall has been recorded in Chorgaliya, 43.5 mm in Rudrapur, 38 mm in Yamkeshwar, 32.5 mm in Kichha, 27 mm in Khanpur, 19-19 mm in Dehradun and Laksar, 15 mm in Hathibarkala, 8.9 mm in Pithoragarh and 8 mm in Lohaghat.
How will the weather be in the future?
The Meteorological Department has also predicted light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in most parts of the state on June 8. According to the department, there may be heavy rain in some areas of Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar districts. The administration has appealed to the people not to undertake unnecessary journeys in bad weather. Also, there is a danger of landslides in the hilly areas, hence people have been asked to remain alert and follow the instructions of the administration. Considering the situation in the state, relief and rescue teams have been put on high alert.
