New Delhi: A big news has come out regarding student politics in Delhi University. In the results of college student union elections held on Friday, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has given a tremendous performance and captured almost all the key posts in many colleges. With this, the eyes of the entire university are now fixed on the results of the main elections of DUSU i.e. Delhi University Students Union. Talking about the election results, ABVP won all the posts in Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Sri Aurobindo College (Morning) and Shivaji College with a complete clean sweep. Apart from this, the organization also hoisted its flag on all eight posts in Bharti College and on all four posts in Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar College.
In Keshav Mahavidyalaya also, ABVP candidates performed brilliantly and won important posts like President, Vice President and Secretary. Whereas in Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College, the organization won the post of President and Secretary as well as both the Central Councilor posts. Similarly, in the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce i.e. SRCC, ABVP candidates won all the seats including the posts of President, Secretary and both councilors. In the Department of Library Sciences, the organization also captured both the posts of Central Councilor along with the post of President and Minister.
More than 40 percent voting took place in DUSU elections
Along with the college elections, voting for Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) also concluded on Friday. According to information received from all 52 polling stations, this time a total of 40.46 percent voting was recorded. EVMs of all 44 centers where voting took place in the morning session have now reached the counting centres. A large number of students were seen at the polling stations in the morning, while by the evening the voting related activities gradually reduced.
A huge crowd of students was seen at the polling centers in the morning, but as the day progressed, the number of students at the centers gradually decreased. If compared with previous years, this time's figures show minor changes. Voting has been 35.20 percent in the year 2024, 39.45 percent in 2025 and now 40.46 percent in 2026. That is, a significant increase in voting was seen between 2024 and 2025, whereas this time the increase was very nominal. However, it is also worth noting that this year's voting percentage is still behind the 2023 figure of around 42 percent.
Counting of votes will take place today
Now everyone's eyes are on the counting of votes to be held today. Counting of votes in Delhi University will start at around 8 am. Given the low voting percentage, student organizations estimate that the entire counting process may take about four to five hours. In such a situation, it is expected that the final results can be revealed by afternoon. On the day of elections, there was an atmosphere of hustle and bustle throughout the day in the Delhi University campus.
