Mosque built in Japan without permission, controversy arose, Pakistani Embassy shrugged it off
New Delhi: Controversy has arisen over the construction of a mosque in Kawagoe city of Saitama province of Japan. Let us tell you, the local administration claims that the mosque has been constructed without the necessary legal approvals, due to which now the possibility of removing this building is also being expressed. After the matter gained momentum, the Pakistani Embassy in Japan has completely distanced itself from this project.
Approval taken before construction
According to local reports, the mosque has been built on a land with an area of about 4,500 square meters which is classified as hill forest land. This area comes under the urbanization control area, where it is mandatory to take special permission from the local administration for any construction work. Officials say that no such approval was taken for the construction of the mosque.
violated the law
Kawagoe Municipal Administration said in its statement that the building in question was constructed without the city’s permission, which is considered a violation of the provisions of the City Planning Law. According to records, the ownership of this land was changed from a real estate company to a firm registered in Kawagoe in March 2025.
Pakistan Ambassador performed the ceremony
This matter is also in discussion because in April this year, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Japan Abdul Hameed had participated in the inauguration ceremony of the mosque. However, as the controversy escalated, the Pakistani Embassy clarified that the ambassador had participated in the event only after the organizers had assured that all necessary permissions had been obtained.
Appeal to follow the law
In its official statement, the Embassy has appealed to the Pakistani community living in Japan to follow local laws. Along with this, it has been said that before starting any religious place or other construction project, it is necessary to obtain all the necessary government approvals. Along with this, the embassy also reiterated that it does not support any project that violates local laws and urged the community to fully cooperate with the Japanese authorities.
