Sonu Kurmi, who comes from a small village Gidwani in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, saw more struggle in life than facilities. His family was dependent on farming and the financial condition was not such that he could spend on expensive coaching or other resources for studies. In his childhood, due to lack of school facilities in the village, he had to walk about 10 to 12 kilometers every day to go to school.
Despite working in the fields with the family, Sonu kept studies as his priority. His father wanted his son to become a doctor. To fulfill this dream, Sonu started preparing for the medical entrance examination and for this he had to go away from home to Indore.
Failure in PMT and illness broke the morale.
Sonu had to face many difficulties while preparing for the medical entrance exam. He had trouble establishing himself amidst his studies and environment in another city. Despite all his efforts he could not achieve the expected success.
During this time, he developed jaundice, due to which he had to leave his studies and return home. His self-confidence was greatly affected as one year of study and hard work went in vain. This period of failure and illness also troubled him mentally.
People's taunts made the situation more difficult. However, family support helped him overcome this difficult period. He decided to give direction to his life and career again.
Started preparation for government job with B-Pharma
After trying to make a career in the medical field, Sonu took admission in B-Pharma in a college in Sagar. Along with studies, he also started preparing for a government job. Initially, he could devote only limited time a week to preparing for competitive exams, but gradually his goal of joining civil services became clear.
The biggest challenge they faced for MPPSC preparation was resources. It was not possible to afford expensive coaching. Therefore he made self-study his weapon. Studied for a long time in the college library and prepared notes myself by collecting necessary study material with the help of internet.
Achieved 18th rank in MPPSC by studying for 16-18 hours
Sonu followed a very tough schedule during his preparation. According to reports, he sometimes studied for 16 to 18 hours a day. His focus was only on preparing for the exam. Making maximum use of the available resources, he understood his shortcomings and changed his preparation strategy.
He did not get success in his first attempt of MPPSC. But he did not consider this as the final result. I realized my mistakes from the first failure and started preparing again. Ultimately he obtained the post of DSP by securing 18th rank in MPPSC PCS 2015 exam.
