In the 44th match of IPL 2026, Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai Indians by 8 wickets. Chennai Super Kings have defeated Mumbai Indians for the second time this season. With this defeat, Mumbai Indians are almost out of the race for the playoffs of the Indian Premier League 2026. This is the 7th defeat of Mumbai Indians in 9 matches. Chennai Super Kings achieved the target of 160 runs given by Mumbai Indians with 11 balls remaining by losing 2 wickets. For Chennai, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad 67 not out and Karthik Sharma 54 not out played the match-winning innings.

Both of them made a partnership of 148 runs for the third wicket. Gaikwad scored unbeaten 67 runs on 48 balls. During this, 5 fours and 2 sixes came from his bat. While Karthik Sharma scored 54 runs on 40 balls. He hit 4 fours and 3 sixes. With this win, Chennai Super Kings have kept alive their hopes of reaching the playoffs.

In this match against Chennai Super Kings, after winning the toss and batting first, Mumbai Indians scored 159 runs for 7 wickets. Namdhir played the highest innings of 57 runs in 37 balls for Mumbai Indians. Ryan Rickelton scored 37 runs on 24 balls. Apart from this, Suryakumar Yadav scored 21 runs and captain Hardik Pandya scored 19 runs. Whereas Anshul Kamboj created a stir by taking 3 wickets for Chennai Super Kings. Noor Ahmed took 2 wickets.
