Mumbai Local Train : Relief for Mumbai Local Passengers; 14 non-AC trains will run from May 1
Mumbai Local Train | There is a big comforting news for lakhs of passengers traveling by Mumbai local train. 14 non-AC local trains will be converted into AC (air-conditioned) services on Harbor route by Central Railway. These local trains will run from May 1. This important decision has been taken considering the increasing demand of passengers for comfortable travel. Therefore, the passengers who are already disturbed due to heat will be relieved due to the heat in the train.
After this change, the total number of AC suburban services of Central Railway will reach to 108. This will include 28 AC services on the Harbor route and 80 services on the main route. These services are being extended on Harbor Line running from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Panvel, Vashi and Belapur. Mumbai Local Train
Notably, AC local services on Harbor route were started for the first time this year on 26 January 2026. Following the positive response it received, it has now been decided to convert 14 more services. These new AC trains will run in both directions (UP) towards CSMT and (DOWN) towards Panvel, Vashi, Belapur.
Considering the daily needs of passengers, these services include trains during morning and evening ‘peak hours’. Thus thousands of commuters traveling during office hours will have a more comfortable and convenient travel experience.
But these AC services will run only on working days from Monday to Saturday. These trains will again run in non-AC mode on Sundays and public holidays. So travelers need to keep this difference in mind while planning their journey. Mumbai Local Train
Due to this change, minor changes have also been made in the schedule of some currently running local trains. For example, the Belapur-CSMT service will depart earlier than earlier, while the timings of Vashi-CSMT and some late night services have also been revised.
Central Railway has clearly advised the passengers to check the updated timetable before travelling, so that there is no inconvenience. This decision of Central Railway is expected to make the journey on Harbor route more comfortable, faster and modern.
