Mumbaikars have given great preference to the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority or MHADA’s lottery of 2,640 houses, and so far more than 82 thousand applications have been filed. Interestingly, as 2 more days are left for the application process, this number is expected to increase further.

The response of the citizens has increased significantly as houses are available in important areas of Mumbai like Vikhroli, Goregaon, Borivali, Chembur, Wadala, Ghatkopar, Powai, Dadar, Bandra and Gorai. Interested applicants can apply online from the official website of MHADA till 28th May at 11.59 PM. Initially, the application deadline was set on May 14. Aadhaar linked mobile number, e-mail ID, Aadhaar card, PAN card, domicile certificate, income proof and income tax return will be required while applying. Aadhar and PAN card of spouse has been made mandatory for married applicants.

Meanwhile, the deadline for payment of EMD i.e. deposit amount has been fixed till 11.59 pm on May 29. This amount has to be paid through RTGS or NEFT within the respective banks timings.

The house prices in this lot are also becoming a topic of discussion. The most expensive house in South Mumbai’s Taddev costs around Rs 6.82 crore, while in Mankhurd, houses for economically weaker sections start at around Rs 29 lakh.
