The 20 km long monorail service operated by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority i.e. MMRDA was closed from 20 September 2025. But after the closure of the monorail from September 20, 2025, many commuters had to rely more on buses, local and road transport.

Now, according to officials, the entire monorail system has been modernized. Old and obsolete technical parts have been replaced, signaling, control systems and safety systems have undergone major changes. Under his leadership, the final security check will be conducted next week. Monorail service can be started immediately if the safety certificate is obtained after this inspection.

Meanwhile, 10 new racks have been added to the monorail fleet. Trial runs of these new trains have been successfully completed and an independent safety assessment organization has also given safety certification to the improved system.
