41-year-old Mumbai Police constable deployed outside actor Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments in Bandra reportedly died after suffering a suspected heart attack while on duty on Friday evening.
The constable, identified as Ganesh Rayate, was posted with the LA-4 unit of the Mumbai Police and was assigned to guard Salman’s residence.
According to a report in The Free Press Journal, Rayate complained of uneasiness to fellow police personnel at around 6 pm. He was immediately rushed to Bhabha Hospital for treatment, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police officials suspect that Rayate suffered a heart attack while on duty. However, his body has been sent for a post-mortem examination and the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the medical report.
Salman Khan’s security heightened
The incident comes amid heightened security around Salman Khan. The actor’s security was upgraded to Y-plus in 2024 following the murder of his close friend and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique.
Salman has received repeated threats allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. His Y-plus security includes personal security officers and a police escort vehicle accompanying him during travel.
In April 2024, two men on a motorcycle opened fire outside Salman’s Galaxy Apartments. The shooting led to an investigation and was later linked to the network of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
Salman Khan’s upcoming projects
Meanwhile, Salman Khan is set to appear in the patriotic war drama Maatrubhumi, formerly titled Battle of Galwan. The film is directed by Apoorva Lakhia.
The actor has also teamed up with Telugu filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally for an upcoming action film, which will also feature Nayanthara.
