Bangladesh’s experienced fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman is ready to play his first match in the Big Bash League. Melbourne Renegades have included him in the team in place of injured Jason Behrendorff. This 31 year old bowler has played 331 T20 matches across the world and has 423 wickets in his name. But he had not played any match in BBL yet. According to the Melbourne Renegades website, Behrendorff is out for the entire season with a shoulder injury. After this, Renegades have included Mustafizur in the team to add variety and experience to their bowling attack.
Will miss the first match
Mustafizur Rahman Renegades will not be able to play the opening match against Perth Scorchers in Chennai. The reason for this is his program related to ILT20 in UAE. This fast bowler from Bangladesh has expressed his eagerness to play at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Renegades will face Sydney Sixers on January 1 and Melbourne Stars on January 4.
Mustafizur said in a statement, ‘I am looking forward to playing in BBL for the first time with Melbourne Renegades. It will be special to play at the MCG as my home ground, and I am excited to join my teammates and bring my experience to the team.
Why is Mustafizur Rahman special?
Renegades’ new coach Luke Ronchi expressed happiness over Mustafizur’s inclusion in the team. He told that the team already has international players Jonny Bairstow and Michael Bracewell. Ronchi said, ‘Mustafizur is a match winner in T20 cricket across the world. His ability to take wickets in both the powerplay and death overs is exactly what we wanted in our attack. This news comes just after Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf joined Adelaide Strikers, ending his long association with Melbourne Stars.
