Muzaffarpur’s Madanta Hospital suspended from Ayushman panel

Madanta Hospital in Muzaffarpur has been temporarily suspended from the panel of Ayushman Bharat scheme. The Health Department has taken this action on the basis of alleged negligence in the treatment of the patient and irregularities revealed in the investigation.

Muzaffarpur: Major action has been taken against a private hospital listed under the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. The health department has temporarily suspended Madanta Hospital from the scheme’s panel after investigating complaints of alleged negligence and irregularities in treatment. After this decision, the hospital will not be able to get the benefits related to the scheme at present.

Action taken after investigation report

Amidst the review of the functioning of private hospitals in the district, the Health Department has taken action against Madanta Hospital. According to officials, a complaint was received against the hospital for negligence in the treatment of a patient.

After receiving the complaint, the matter was investigated. Based on the facts and reports revealed in the investigation, it was decided to temporarily suspend the hospital from the panel of Ayushman Bharat Scheme. The department says that ensuring the safety and quality treatment of patients is the priority.

Will not get benefit of Ayushman Bharat scheme

After the suspension, Madanta Hospital will not be able to treat patients under the Ayushman Bharat scheme at present. The beneficiaries associated with the scheme will no longer be able to avail the benefits of the government health insurance scheme in this hospital.

The Health Department has clarified that the condition of the hospital and further action will be decided on the basis of investigation process and compliance with the rules.

Action has already been taken

This is not the first time in Muzaffarpur that such action has been taken against a private hospital. Before this, another private hospital has also been removed from the panel of Ayushman Bharat scheme.

The Health Department is continuously monitoring such institutions where complaints of violation of quality of treatment, safety standards or other rules come to light. Officials say that strict action will continue against institutions that do not follow the rules.

Information sought from all blocks

The Health Department has sought from the primary health centers of all the 16 blocks of the district a list of such private hospitals where treatment related deficiencies or other serious irregularities have been found.

Further investigation and action will be taken based on these reports. The objective of the department is to ensure that only standard and quality health services are available to the beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat Scheme.

Special emphasis on patient safety

According to district health officials, it is mandatory for the hospitals included in the Ayushman Bharat scheme to follow the prescribed standards. If a hospital is found to have committed serious negligence, irregularities or compromised the safety of patients, action is taken against it.

The Health Department says that the objective of the scheme is to provide better health facilities to the economically weaker sections. Therefore, regular monitoring will continue to ensure accountability of hospitals and maintain quality of services.
