New Delhi: On May 12, 2026, at 9:36 pm, 32-year-old former model Twisha Sharma sent one last message to her sister-in-law Rashi Abrol. A few minutes after this message, she was seen on CCTV going towards the terrace. Now the messages, call records, CCTV footage, medical documents and statements of witnesses revealed in the CBI investigation have played an important role in linking the events of about 79 minutes before his death.
In its final report filed in the Bhopal court, CBI has alleged that Twisha faced alleged mental torture from her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh. According to the agency, this alleged harassment had troubled him so much that he committed suicide.
'My life has become hell'
According to CBI, Twisha had spoken to her parents, sister-in-law, old employers and doctors several times about the alleged troubles at her in-laws' house. On April 30, he told his mother about his deteriorating mental condition. He had said that his health was deteriorating and he had an anxiety attack in the plane also. The investigating agency also recorded the statements of those doctors and counselors who had talked to Twisha and Samarth during treatment or therapy. According to him, Twisha looked very upset. The ongoing problems related to her pregnancy were also mentioned in the investigation.
Controversy claims regarding pregnancy
CBI alleges that after Twisha took the first medicine for abortion, her mother-in-law Giribala allegedly pressurized her to change her decision. The agency also said that Samarth repeatedly questioned Twisha about the father of the child. On May 9, Twisha had sent a message to her mother saying that Samarth was asking questions about the father of the child and she was very upset with this situation. CBI has considered these messages important in the investigation of the case.
During the investigation, allegations were also seen in which Twisha was questioned about the use of drugs. According to CBI, Samarth had told a doctor treating him that he and Twisha used to take ganja. Twisha had also reportedly told her family that Giribala and Samarth were trying to prove her to be mentally unstable. The agency made all these statements and documents part of its investigation.
What happened in the last 79 minutes?
On May 12, at 9:36 pm, Twisha sent her last message to her sister-in-law. Four minutes later, at 9:40, he was seen walking alone towards the terrace in the CCTV footage. At 9:41 pm his father spoke to him on the phone. After this his mother called him at 10:05 pm. According to CBI, Twisha was crying continuously during the conversation and her words did not seem normal. After this the mother called several times, but got no response. He tried to contact Samarth, but there was no response from there either. After this he called Giribala.
CCTV footage later showed Giribala coming out of the room to inquire about Twisha's condition. According to the footage, he called Samarth before opening the main gate for his nephew to enter the house. Subsequent CCTV footage showed Samarth, his cousin and a domestic worker bringing Twisha down from the terrace. At 10:55 pm, doctors of Bhopal AIIMS declared him dead.
What was revealed in the postmortem report?
Two postmortems of Twisha were conducted. The first took place in Bhopal and the second in Delhi AIIMS. In both the investigations, the cause of death was found to be due to the pressure of the noose on the neck. The report of Delhi AIIMS termed it a suicide and said that there was no evidence of any serious injury before death, which would be significant from the medico-legal point of view or point towards assault. Twisha's family had raised questions about some injuries not being adequately mentioned in the first postmortem report. However, the Delhi AIIMS report did not confirm any injuries that could be considered evidence of violence that occurred before death.
CBI is still waiting for some reports
Some parts of the CBI investigation are still pending. The agency has sent data from Twisha's main iPhone to New Delhi-based CFSL to obtain it. CBI believes that additional evidence related to the case can be found from the phone and information about the role of other people can also come to light. Apart from this, the forensic report of the DVR recovered from Giribala's house is also awaited. According to the agency, its investigation can provide more information on possible aspects related to tampering of CCTV records.
